Good morning announces hiatus and new album “The Accident”

In March, Australian duo Good Morning released a self-titled double LP Good morning seven. Today, they announced that they already have another new album out the day after Thanksgiving, with one caveat: It might be their last. The eight-minute lead single ‘Soft Rock Band’ is out now.

Good morning I entered the studio sessions for The accident without any songs prepared ahead of time, resulting in an album full of jamming. However, in that stream-of-consciousness writing and recording mode, the band realized it might be time to put the brakes on. The two explain in a press release:

Somehow we broke through the barrier of being vulnerable about our creativity (again) and got into the swing of writing together in a room for the first time in a long time. During this time, we start all the pre-release work Good morning seven and we are planning next year. We’re not exactly fighters, (we’re far too passive for that), but considering we’re making a new album at the same time we’re already sick of thinking about the old one, an associated burn out and bum out band air seems to -find their way into most of the lyrics. For the first time in a long time, a new Good Morning album isn’t in the works as it’s coming out, nor do they plan to tour.

“Soft Rock Band” is a fitting send-off: “I may have seen it all, but I know there’s so much more to do,” the band sings over slide guitar and piano embellishments. Listen to this and see the full tracklist The accident below.
