An accidental stampede occurred at a high school in Kashgar, Xinjiang on Monday, with three students seriously injured and currently in intensive care, while 11 others with minor injuries are being kept in hospital for observation, local media reported.

The report said that the jamming started when a group of students from Kashgar School 8 were walking from the dormitory building to the classroom building for classes, one student accidentally fell into the stairwell, causing the students behind to fall and resulting in a run away at 15:25.

After the incident, emergency response plans were immediately activated by local authorities, and education, health and other departments rushed to the scene to deal with it, the Kashgar converged media center reported Monday night. The cause of the accident continues, they say.
