2 men and 3 teenagers charged with riot for assault in Salem; Gun seized from teenager

SALEM Hours. (KPTV) – Three teenagers and two men were arrested after another man was assaulted Sunday morning in Salem, according to the Salem Police Department.

Around 4:30 a.m., an officer observed five people physically assaulting a man near Market Street and Hawthorne Avenue Northeast, according to police. The suspects then sped away from the area in a car.

Police have not released any information about the victim or any injuries she may have sustained.

A Beaverton man was arrested Friday for stealing a delivery truck in Milwaukie while an employee was still in the truck’s cargo area, according to police.

Police said the suspect car was spotted about 20 minutes later by a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy near Lancaster Drive and Center Street Northeast.

The suspects were apprehended and taken into custody without incident, police said.

The two adults, Horacio Chavez Soto, 20, and Manuel Contreras Rivera, 19, both of Salem, were arrested and charged with rioting. Both men have since been released, police said.

The three teenage boys, ages 16, 16 and 17, were taken to the Marion County Juvenile Department, where all three are charged with rioting.

Police said one of the 16-year-old boys had a gun, which they confiscated. That teenager was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
