Two people are dead after a boat capsized over the weekend on Walpole Island First Nation, provincial police said.

Lambton County OPP, Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Center and the US Coast Guard responded to a one-vessel accident on Pocket Bay on the western edge of Walpole Island First Nation around 6:00 pm Saturday .

Two people died at the scene, Lambton County OPP said in a news release Sunday.

Walpole Island First Nation, a group of islands, is located between Sarnia and Chatham at the mouth of the St. Clair and along Lake St. Clair.

Officers from the OPP’s traffic incident management unit were called to the scene to assist with the investigation, police said.

Neither the identities of the two people who died, nor the potential cause of the boat’s collapse, have been released by provincial police.

Anyone with information about the fatal collision is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-84777 (TIPS).

Teenager charged with knife robbery in south London

A 13-year-old is facing charges following a knife robbery in south London.

A young man armed with a knife approached a group of teenagers walking near Homeview Road and Crawford Street, north-east of Southdale and Wharncliffe roads, around 3.40pm on Wednesday and made threats and demanded property from one of the boys, London police said Friday.

The complainant, who was not injured, ran away and the police were contacted. The suspect was known to the boys in the group, police said.

A suspect was arrested the next day, police said.

A 13-year-old male, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with robbery. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 23.
