Prosecutors accuse Diddy of trying to Taint Jury Pool from prison

Sean “Diddy” Combs he was accused of trying to “corruptly influence” the outcome of his trial.

Prosecutors handling Diddy’s upcoming case filed a new motion in court on Friday, Nov. 15, arguing that the disgraced rapper’s fourth bail attempt should be denied for allegedly attempting to obstruct an investigation.

In court documents obtained by CNNlawyers cited a review of recorded calls from Diddy, 55, and said they may have been made to phone accounts belonging to other inmates. Prosecutors allege Diddy paid the other Metropolitan Detention Center inmates through middlemen. He reportedly made “hundreds” of calls and texts in breach of prison rules.

“Since defendant was detained at MDC, he has continued to attempt to evade law enforcement surveillance, corruptly influence witness testimony, and further attack the integrity of these proceedings,” court documents state. “While attempting to evade law enforcement surveillance, the defendant orchestrated, among other things, social media campaigns that, in his own words, were intended to taint the jury; has made efforts to publicly disclose materials it considers useful to its case; and contacted witnesses through third parties.”

The music mogul was indicted by a grand jury in September, weeks before he was arrested and charged on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. A 14-page indictment alleged that Diddy “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him” for decades.

Diddy pleaded not guilty to the charges before a judge denied him bail in three separate attempts. He was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn until his trial, that is scheduled to start at the beginning of 2025.

He’s an imperfect person, but he’s not a criminal.”

The statement continued: “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr. Combs has not cooperated with this investigation and voluntarily moved to New York last week pending these charges. Please reserve judgment until you have all the facts. These are the papers of an innocent man who has nothing to hide and looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

Diddy and his legal team filed a new appeal for $50 million bail earlier this month, arguing that because of changed circumstances and new evidence, he should be able to prepare for trial outside the detention center. No decision has been made yet.
