A man was shot in the Green Valley neighborhood early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened around 2:45 a.m. near Drew Elementary School and the intersection of 23rd Street S. and S. Kenmore Street. It followed reports of a group of people arguing in the area, although the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting are unclear.

Initial reports suggest the victim was shot in the arm.

The Arlington County Police Department’s Homicide/Robbery Unit is investigating a shooting that occurred in the Green Valley neighborhood in the early morning hours of November 16, 2024.

At approximately 2:47 a.m., police were dispatched to the report of gunshots heard in the area and later determined that a shooting had occurred near the intersection of 23rd Street S. and S. Kenmore Street. Responding officers located the adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered aid to him. He was transported by medics to an area hospital with injuries considered serious, but not life-threatening.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was outside when she was approached by approximately five male suspects. During the incident, the suspect(s) discharged a firearm, striking the victim and fleeing the scene.

The events leading up to the shooting remain under investigation and the preliminary investigation has not revealed a continuing threat to the community.
