YSRC leader Varudu Kalyani demands apology from Naidu for false claims of trafficking

Visakhapatnam: YSRC state women’s president Varudu Kalyani demanded an immediate apology from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and Home Minister Anitha for their pre-election claims on women trafficking in the state.

The demand comes after recent Assembly proceedings revealed only 34 registered trafficking cases involving 46 victims, contradicting earlier claims by alliance leaders that over 35,000 women went missing during the previous YSRC government.

“Alliance leaders have deliberately spread misinformation about volunteers trafficking women out of the state for political purposes,” she said. She pointed out that the Union Home Department had earlier confirmed a 99% protection rate for women during the Jagan administration.

She also criticized the current government’s handling of women’s safety issues, citing recent incidents including a teacher’s attack on a student’s mother in Vizianagaram, harassment of a woman RTC conductor and an attack on a young woman in Pedagantyada. She expressed particular concern over the deactivation of the Disha app, a women’s safety app implemented by the previous government.
