Sean “Diddy” Combs is trying to obstruct his sex-trafficking case, prosecutors say

to Sean Combs new bail application should be denied because the music mogul “presents serious risks of endangerment and obstruction” in his criminal sex-trafficking case, federal prosecutors argued in a court filing overnight.

Prosecutors targeted Combs’ activities behind bars, where, they argued, “the defendant orchestrated, among other things, social media campaigns that, in his own words, were aimed at tainting the jury; made efforts to publicly disclose the materials he made. believes it is helpful to his case and has contacted witnesses through third parties.”

The filing cited notes from Combs’ cell that were found during a sweep of the jail. The contents of the notes are being redacted, but prosecutors said there is a “strong inference” that Combs paid off an unnamed witness who posted a statement on Instagram.

The government filing also accused Combs of using the phone accounts of at least eight inmates at MDC-Brooklyn “apparently to avoid law enforcement monitoring” and making phone calls to people not on his list of contacts approved.

“To obtain or maintain access to other inmates’ numbers (phone access code), the defendant directs others to pay inmates, including through payment processing applications and deposits into the BOP Commissioner’s account,” the filing states.

Defense lawyers said the new evidence was “undermining”. the government’s case against Combs but prosecutors said “the defendant offers nothing new and material to warrant a third bail hearing” and “repeated the same arguments” rejected by two other judges.

The “near total restrictions” offered to Combs as part of an enhanced bail package are “grossly insufficient” to prevent him from delaying his future trial, prosecutors said.

“The defendant is a violent, serial abuser who uses his great wealth and position in the entertainment industry to conceal his illegal behavior and prevent victims and witnesses to his abuse from coming forward,” prosecutors said.

The judge scheduled a hearing for Friday afternoon. Combs pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, sex trafficking, and prostitution charges that accused him of using violence, threats, and coercion to force women to engage in sexual acts with male prostitutes, sometimes lasting several days and often recorded. Combs reportedly called the activity “crazy.”

Arguing for release, Combs argued the video of him attacking his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura actually revealed “a loving, sometimes toxic, long-term relationship between two adults who mutually decided to separate.”
