Last month, a substitute teacher from Minnesota who was also a police officer came on board forbidden to teach in the district after setting out to prove to students at Woodbury High School that “police brutality is not real” by — *checks notes* – revisiting perhaps the most important case of police brutality since Rodney King…on his students.

Now, that substitute teacher and police officer is neither a substitute teacher nor a police officer because he “involuntarily” resigned from his position with the Prescott Police Department.

Like us previously reportedSteven Williams was moonlighting as a high school substitute teacher when he was caught in a viral photo using students to reenact his vicious crime. George Floyd disgraced, condemned and, at one point, shook former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. Williams was also accused of making sexist jokes and racially insensitive comments and telling impressionable young minds that police brutality is a myth. (Just like goblins and unicorns, except this myth can be caught on camera and used as evidence in court.

Conformable Fox 9a separation agreement between Williams and the City of Prescott shows that the former resigned from the police department involuntarily.

Now, you might be thinking, “Wait, doesn’t an involuntary resignation just mean he was fired?”

Well, no, not exactly. You see, when a person is permanently fired, their pink slip doesn’t usually come with severance pay and an agreement that their record will reflect that they “resigned in lieu of firing,” which Williams received with his severance papers. walking It’s also worth noting that the police department placed Williams on paid administrative leave after the incident at the high school because, apparently, when a police officer is suspended, regardless of the crime he committed, his suspension looks like more with forced PTO. Basically, departments are punishing serious police misconduct by forcing officers to take vacation days before they even have a chance to plan a trip.

The city of Prescott recently requested Williams’ resignation over the incident.

The separation agreement says Williams has been offered severance pay and his resignation is effective Nov. 15.

As part of the settlement, his personnel file will show that he resigned and will be classified on a Wisconsin Department of Justice portal as “dismissed in lieu of termination.”

The City of Prescott has agreed to provide a letter of reference for future employment reference requests. It will indicate the dates of employment, the positions held, the duties and the final salary rate. The city will also provide more information in accordance with Wisconsin’s open records law.

It’s nice to know that despite Williams turning out to be a walking civil rights violation waiting to happen, the city of Prescott is taking the initiative to make sure he lands OK when he looks for a new job. (But please tell us more about how America’s police officers are under siege, and the blue lives matter movement was an absolutely necessary cause *rolls eyes*.)

It’s worth noting that the Prescott Police Department is actually the third department he’s resigned from, after leaving the Wausau Police Department in 2003 and the Daniels County Sheriff’s Office in Montana in 2021. It’s unclear under what circumstances he left those departments, but if his Performance at Woodbury High is any indication, those departments are just one of those “bad apples” they always talk about.
