The police found a body packed in a suitcase near the National Highway no. 9 Delhi-Lucknow from Hapur in Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Saturday.

Police said they arrived at the scene after receiving information about the body, which was spotted by some passers-by. The forensics team arrived at the scene and took the body into custody. The woman’s body had several wounds and bruises on it.

“Information was received of a body in a red suitcase on the side of the highway. The forensic unit was called and examined the body, which was sent for an autopsy. There are some marks of wounds on the body. The woman’s age appears to be apparently she died a day ago,” Hapur ASP Vineet Bhatnagar said.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and have opened an investigation into the matter.

The woman has not yet been identified and more details will be revealed soon, the senior police official added.
