BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — A man is dead after a shooting Friday afternoon in Boynton Beach, police said.

The shooting happened around 1:45 p.m. at 236 Northeast 12th Ave., near the intersection of Northeast Second Street.

Police said when officers arrived at the scene, they found the shooting victim, who was later pronounced dead by Boynton Beach Fire Rescue.

A WPTV news crew saw a crime scene tape posted outside the New Disciples Worship Center.

Investigators said two men were involved in some sort of altercation before the shooting.

The gunman fled the scene and is being sought by the police. A person of interest has been identified.

Police were on the scene investigating.

The victim’s name has not been released.
