Threads tests custom feeds for your favorite topics

Threads is testing a way to create custom threads for specific profiles or topics, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced Friday. The upcoming feature should make it easier to follow different interests, such as your favorite sports team or even tech news.

It sounds similar to the custom feeds feature released by Bluesky last year, but the Threads version looks much simpler. To create a custom feed, just search and tap a topic. From there, select the three-dot icon next to your search term and choose “create a new feed.”

You can create streams that follow football or men’s fashion.

You can also add profiles to your feed. custom by selecting the three-dot icon above someone’s profile photo and tapping “add to feed”. Threads will then allow you to choose which feed you want to add the profile to. Your feeds custom will then appear in the same main menu bar as the “For You” and “Next” tabs. However, there is still no way to set these custom feeds or the “Following” feed as the default view.

“Custom feeds will display a combination of posts from profiles you’ve added and search results for the selected topic,” said Threads spokesperson Alec Booker. The Verge. “These are shown in reverse chronological order.” The test is being conducted with a small number of people globally, but Booker says Threads hopes to bring it to more users “soon.”
