The driver called 911 at a bus stop near the intersection of Harding Place and Antioch Pike around 5:15 a.m. He remained at the scene to help Nashville police identify the alleged attacker, who was arrested after a group of people attacked him and held him until authorities arrived, police said.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died, police said.

Investigators closed a portion of Harding Place at Antioch Pike to continue their investigation.
