Why HC Legal Services Committee files so many PILs? asks the Karnataka High Court

A bench of the Chief Justice NW Anjar and Justice KV Aravind said that while they are welcome to file petitions, he could not understand why so many PILs were filed by the legal aid body.

“Here in this state (Karnataka), the Legal Services Authority continues to file public interest litigation? They are welcome to file, but sometimes it doesn’t become acceptable, at least in my understanding.” noted the Bank.

Incidentally, the question was raised during the hearing of a PIL filed by the legal aid body seeking better wages and working conditions for the part-time daily workers employed at the residence of the High Court judges.

KHLSC is Constitutionally required to provide free and competent legal services to the weaker sections of the society.
