Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) started an important weekend in style at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona – securing first place on the opening day of action. The #96 continues to fight for second in the championship and finished ahead of David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports) on Friday, who set a strong time to secure second place. Muñoz’s impressive performance put him ahead of Angel Piqueras (Leopard Racing), who carried his momentum from FP into Practice 1.

It was a cold start to Friday’s action with free practice kicking off the weekend and Piqueras emerging as the fastest rider out of the gates. The Spaniard set a strong 1:47.281, setting the stage for Practice 1, where Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets – MSI) took first place in the opening moments of the session. Times continued to drop as the tension mounted towards the end of Practice 1 as Holgado went fastest in the final minutes – posting a 1:46.568.

Meanwhile, Joel Kelso completed an excellent start for the BOE Motorsports team, claiming fourth place and beating Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) who completed the top five. The No. 95 is currently level on points with Holgado in the championship and will be looking to continue his competitive form after finishing ahead of Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) on ​​Friday. The Spaniard was sixth and placed ahead of Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo), who had a confidence-boosting start to the weekend and ended Friday with FleetSafe Honda – MLav Racing’s Scott Ogden in hot pursuit.

Stefano Nepa (LEVELUP – MTA) and David Almansa of Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team completed the top 10, while Yamanaka failed to finish higher than 11th. Earlier, Matteo Bertelle (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team) was 12 years oldthfinishing ahead of Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI) and David Alonso (Team CFMOTO Valresa Aspar), who briefly held onto their provisional Q2 places on the first day of action.
