Fugitive child molestation suspect from Gilbert found in Mexico

NOGALES, AZ (AZ Family) — After being on the run for three weeks, a Gilbert child abuse suspect is in custody after being found south of the border, officials said Thursday.

Mexican law enforcement arrested Randall Arrington on Monday, according to Gilbert police.

Investigators said he missed a court hearing on October 21 while out on bail while waiting for his child sexual abuse trial to begin early next year.

Arrington was originally arrested in September 2023 on 18 felony charges, including sexual conduct with a minor, child molestation and sexual abuse.

Family members said he admitted to years of abuse.

But Arrington did not appear in court.

The family feared he could be anywhere, but the US Marshals Service believed he had cut off his ankle monitor, sold his house and fled to Mexico.

Federal agents with Mexican officials, who then located and arrested Arrington.

He was driven to the Nogales Port of Entry where he was turned over to the Gilbert Police Department.

“Of all the dangerous fugitives that U.S. marshals arrest, individuals charged with crimes against minors are particularly important to us and our communities,” said U.S. Marshal for the District of Arizona Van Bayless. “The tireless work and cooperation of local, federal and international law enforcement agencies has ensured that those who violate the trust of children are held accountable for their actions.”

Arrington will face additional charges for missing the court date.
