The Reno Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred around 10 a.m. on Nov. 14 near City Plaza at 1st and Virginia Streets.

Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim suffering from stab wounds. Despite immediate first aid and medical attention from REMSA, the victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Sedrick Romero, fled the scene but was apprehended by authorities an hour later. Romero was arrested on murder charges.

Reno Police consider this incident to be isolated and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety. The victim’s identity will be released by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office once the appropriate notifications have been made.
