Hamlin dominates champion Parkston in 9-AA title game

VERMILLION, SD (Dakota News Now) -Hamlin’s offense got the most attention, but the defense was the most impressive. They held Parkston’s high-powered offense to 150 yards, and the Trojans only scored on a 97-yard kickoff return by Kolter Kramer.

Jackson Wadsworth was able to match up and was Joe Robbie’s MVP after completing 17 of 22 passes for 216 yards and a TD. Turner Stevenson also scored twice on the field as Hamlin won 32-8. Wadsworth felt the school’s winning tradition helped.

“The basketball championship helped us. We know what that feeling was, so we wanted to get back to that feeling. And all the players here are like a brotherhood. We play for each other and that helped us go ahead and win this game.”

Both teams entered Thursday night’s game with perfect records. It was Hamlin’s first football championship since 2014.
