Jon Jones has cold feet about his skills, claims Adam Catterall after UFC champ refuses interview over Tom Aspinall

Jon Jones has once again denied a reporter an interview for a petty reason! Jones refused to fight interim heavyweight champion Tom Apsinall if he retained his title after UFC 309, and was brutally scrutinized for it. And it seems the Brit is living rent-free in his head as he denied talkSport writer Adam Catterall a minute of his time over the latter’s association with the interim champion.

Seconds after entering the room, “Bones” realized Catterall’s close ties to Aspinall and decided not to do this interview because it would be an “Aspinall fest”. Caterall co-hosts a show with Aspinall for TNT and has been very critical of the American ducking the Brit.

In response, Caterall claimed that Jones did not believe in his heart and soul that interim champion would have dominion over him.

“The reason Jon doesn’t want to fight Tom Aspinall, and I have no problem telling you that, and I have no problem saying it to Jon’s face, is that he doesn’t fully believe he can beat him .”

The podcast host believes all “Bones” will do now is try to save his legacy and keep his undefeated record intact until he retires. Caterall further criticized Bones’ question about what Aspinall had done to deserve a fight with him and said the Briton had done more than enough.

“He beat 5 of the top 10 guys. He is the interim champion. He won 8 fights in the UFC. He finished every one of them and made 7 of them in the first round. It’s ridiculous. Compare that to when Jon became champion in 2011, he blows away Jon’s numbers.”

Despite continuing to make the case himself, it appears that even UFC President Dana White is finally putting his foot down,

White wants to see Jones against Aspinall

Jones may have had one heck of a career, but his evasive tactics are all people will be talking about right now. He himself vouched for it. During the UFC 309 pre-fight press conference, a reporter asked the UFC president if the winner of the heavyweight title fight should take on the Briton.

White, who has been a rather vocal supporter of Jones and encouraged the heavyweight champion for most of the year, has now made it clear that the undisputed champion must face the interim champion.

“The winner should fight Tom.”

After hearing this, the crowd started chanting Aspinall’s name before Jones asked them to “Beat it‘.
