Multiple lanes blocked for hours on I-65 due to semi rollover to reopen near Franklin

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WSMV) – The latest: The Franklin Police Department said the portion of Interstate 65 that was closed for hours should reopen around 4 p.m.

Earlier in the day, just before 1 p.m., a semi-truck being towed by a tug came loose from its hook and overturned on the roadway.

Update: The Franklin Police Department reports that lanes of Interstate 65 North will be closed for several hours near the McEwen Drive exit.

The semi truck was being towed by a tow truck when, for unknown reasons, it came off the hook, according to police working on the scene.

No injuries are reported in this incident.

“Many lanes will be closed for several hours. Cleanup is already underway,” FPD said.

Earlier: The Franklin Police Department is warning drivers to avoid the northbound lanes of I-65 near the McEwen Drive exit.

An overturned semi, blocking several lanes of traffic.

FPD advised drivers to find alternate routes and avoid the area.
