Nashville school bus crash with students on board under investigation

A multi-vehicle crash involved a Metro Nashville Public Schools bus Wednesday morning, a spokesperson confirms.

The MNPS Special Education Bus was carrying three students at Hillsboro High School when it crashed into a wall on Briley Parkway.

The bus driver and monitor were transported for medical treatment and evaluation. The bus monitor is currently under further review.

The bus driver was released from the hospital Wednesday and no children were injured in the crash. Early Wednesday, one of the students on board was taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Medical Center for evaluation, but they have since been released without injury.

A driver carrying three students to Hillsboro High School crashed into a wall on Briley Parkway. The driver sustained some injuries and required medical attention, with no injuries reported by the students on the bus. MNPS Transport and Security are on site along with the medical services.

The accident was reported on State Route 155 Southbound at Exit 26: Centennial Boulevard. All southbound lanes, the exit ramp and both shoulders were closed following the crash.

The bus was towed away from the scene and the road is now open again as of Wednesday morning.

The investigation to determine the cause of the accident is still ongoing.
