Woman brutally attacked by stalker in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: A young woman sustained serious injuries in a brutal attack on Thursday when her alleged stalker attacked her with an iron rod in Visakhapatnam’s Gajuwaka area. The victim identified as Meghna Donkada was violently attacked near Pedagantyada Balacheruvu by Neeraj Sharma, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, after months of persistent harassment.

The assault took place when Meghna, who repeatedly rejected his advances, was alone in her house, where the accused hit her with an iron rod and fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he received thirty stitches for his head injuries. Doctors plan to carry out brain scans to assess the full extent of her injuries.

Speaking to the media, Meghna’s father revealed a disturbing pattern of harassment that preceded the attack. “For the past eight months, he has been harassing our family by sending pornographic content and AI-transformed videos to our relatives,” he said. “I had already filed two complaints – one at the Cyber station and one at the regular police station.”

The family revealed that they initially met the accused at Om Shanti Ashram. “We are now living in fear,” the father added, asking the police to register the case as attempted murder due to the seriousness of the attack and the continued threats against their family. The father also claimed that even though I filed a complaint twice, the police department did not take any action. Newport police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.

According to locals at the scene, a policeman heard the girl screaming and tried to force open the door. At that point, the accused ran away, throwing away his shirt and quickly donning another T-shirt as he escaped. He ran barefoot along the railroad track to avoid capture.
