Thomasin McKenzie joins ‘Victorian Psycho’ with Margaret Qualley

EXCLUSIVE: Thomasin McKenzie (Last night in Soho) is set to star opposite Margaret Qualley in Victorian Psychothe new psychological horror thriller that reteams Qualley with Zachary Wigon, who helmed her famous dominatrix thriller Neon Sanctuary.

Recently presented to buyers at AFM by antonymwhich represents the international rights and co-represents domestically, in addition to fully financing the film, Victorian Psycho is based on the upcoming novel by bestselling author Virginia Feito (Mrs. March), who adapted the script.

Set in 1858, the story follows an eccentric young governess named Winifred Notty (Qualley) who arrives at the remote Gothic mansion known as Ensor House. Winifred’s responsibilities include teaching the children table manners and educating them about their family history, all while hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred settles into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the property begin to wonder if something is wrong with their new housekeeper.

McKenzie will play a nurse at Ensor House who befriends the eccentric new governess.

It is set to shoot in February, Victorian Psycho will be produced by Dan Kagan (Neon’s Long legsParamount’s Significant other) under its Traffic. banner, as well as Sebastien Raybaud (Fuses, Greenland franchise) for Anton and Wigon in association with Anonymous Content. Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros will executive produce. UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance co-represented US rights to the film alongside Anton.

Since breaking out with the lead opposite Ben Foster in Debra Granik’s survival drama Leave No TracesNew Zealander McKenzie continued to rise as a young star with roles in Taika Waititi’s film.
