Authorities find firearms, meth lab in London home during investigation

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — An Oct. 23 burglary investigation in Knox County led police to find firearms, a meth lab and a DMT lab at a London home, leading to a man’s arrest.

Officials reported that the Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducted a burglary investigation in the Girdler community of Knox County on October 23rd. This led police to identify and execute a search warrant on a home in Laurel County.

When police searched the home on Old Way Road in London, they seized two of the firearms allegedly stolen in Knox County. Police also found methamphetamine, morphine tablets, a methamphetamine lab and a DMT lab.

Robert Wayne Simons, 48, was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to officials. Additionally, an arrest warrant has been issued for Doug Simons, who has not been located at this time.

Officials described DMT as a “powerful psychedelic drug and is known to produce intense, short-acting visual hallucinations.”

In particular, chemists were on site to take samples and properly dispose of the laboratory, the officials added.
