GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 28-year-old Damascus man has been charged with multiple felonies in connection with the rape and sexual abuse of three teenage girls, according to the Montgomery Police Department. Detectives with the Special Victims Investigation Division (SVID) have arrested Irvin Ariel Portillo in connection with this case and are concerned there may be other victims.

The investigation began on October 29, when police received a report alleging that Portillo had raped a teenage girl. As detectives pursued the case, two other victims, all minors, were identified, authorities said.

Portillo was arrested on Nov. 8 by members of the 5th Precinct Community Action Team, who served a warrant for his arrest. He faces charges that include second-degree rape and third-degree sexual assault. Portillo is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

“Detectives believe there may be more victims and encourage them to come forward,” the department said in a statement Thursday. Police are urging anyone with additional information or who suspects they may have been victimized by Portillo to contact the Special Victims Unit.
