Football coach arrested after being accused of attempted strangulation

CASTLEFORD, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – A local football coach is out on bond after being arrested for attempted strangulation.

Brian Lowry, 41, is the head football coach, athletic director, business instructor, and gifted/talented coordinator at Castleford High School.

Lowry was arrested on Saturday, October 27 and posted a $25,000 bond.

Twin Falls County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a welfare check on a woman walking on a country road in Castleford late at night.

According to court documents, the woman was not wearing a coat or shoes and allegedly had a red mark around her neck and throat.

The woman told authorities they were fighting and he was choking her.

He allegedly kicked and clawed at Lowry until he broke free and ran down the road, headed for a friend’s house.

Lowry is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on November 27.
