Consumer prices in Finland rose 1.1 percent annually in October, according to the country’s statistics agency.

Statistics Finland reported on Thursday that, compared with a year ago, October’s rise in inflation was driven by increases in maintenance fees, cigarette prices and hospital fees.

However, further inflation was curbed by cuts in petrol, diesel and property prices last month.

The number analysis agency said the monthly change in consumer prices was 0.5 percent, driven by higher prices for electricity and international flights.

Meanwhile, core consumer price index inflation was 1.7 percent last month. The agency noted that core inflation does not take into account changes in food and energy prices, “as short-term fluctuations in their prices are larger compared to other commodity groups.”
