NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Police in North Charleston say a second young man is facing charges in a shooting that killed a high school student-athlete over the weekend.

The second youth, whose name and age have not been released, is charged with murder, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, police spokesman Harve Jacobs said.

The shooting happened around 6:03 p.m. Sunday on Chestnut Street, police said.

Victim, who Charleston County Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal identified as 16-year-old Jamere Milligandied on the way to the hospital from a gunshot wound.

The first youth, who was arrested Monday, faces the same charges, Jacobs said.

North Charleston High School Athletics posted a photo of Milligan on its Instagram page, calling him one of its “beloved student-athletes,” adding, “He will be missed.”

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
