KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (WPLG) – Authorities have made a gruesome discovery in South Florida after a human head washed up on a beach in Key Biscayne.

On Tuesday, police covered the remains with a blue tarp and cordoned off part of the beach with crime scene tape.

Homicide detectives are investigating and the coroner’s office is working to identify the remains.

Miami-Dade police said it was too early to say if the case is related to a teenager who went missing Saturday while swimming near Miami Beach.
