Body cam of Findlay police who killed teenager to go free

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Findlay Police Department announced it will release body camera footage Thursday from the Oct. 28 shooting in which a police officer shot and killed a minor.

FPD will release the footage during a press conference on Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at the Findlay Municipal Building. Live video of the press conference will be added above once it begins.

The Lucas County Coroner’s Office identified the juvenile as 17-year-old Kalvin Darapheth.

According to a news release from the Findlay Police Department last month, officers were dispatched to Bernard Park around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 28 for a report of three juveniles consuming alcoholic beverages. Police say when officers arrived at the scene, Darapheth fled and an officer began chasing him. During the chase, Darapheth allegedly shot the officer, who then returned fire.
