A man stabbed his neighbor several times over an old dispute in Partap Nagar area, which came under B Division police station here on Tuesday.

The accused fled the spot when people started gathering at the spot, while the victim was seriously injured and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. A CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media following which the police swung into action and registered an FIR against the accused, identified as Hardeep Singh.

The victims were identified as Manwinder Singh and his wife Arvinder Kaur, who also sustained injuries when she tried to save her husband.

Harinder Singh, SHO, B Division police station, said a case has been registered and efforts are on to nab Hardeep Singh, who is absconding.

Arwinder Kaur told the police that her husband ran an embroidery shop in the Atta Mandi area. She said that Hardeep, her neighbor, had an argument with her husband on the street over a petty issue. She said yesterday that her husband was going to work when the accused came in front of him and stabbed him repeatedly. She said that when she tried to save her husband, Hardeep also attacked her.
