Oconee Co. Deputies. looking for the shoplifting suspect who damaged the store

OCONEE COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help identifying a person of interest in a theft investigation at a Seneca business.

Deputies report they were investigating after a theft occurred at Belk’s in the Applewood Shopping Center near Seneca on November 6th.

According to deputies, employees said a man was walking around the store with a suitcase that was found to be full of merchandise.

The man attempted to exit the store at various locations before running to the back entrance, where damage to the door was later observed, deputies said.

Deputies report they were unable to locate the suspect once they arrived and an investigation revealed he fled through the employee break room and left the store through a door inside the loading dock.

According to deputies, the stolen merchandise was recovered and included clothing and cosmetics with a retail value of $1,566.36. Damage to the door totaled $7,500 as the glass was broken. The fire alarm system was also damaged.

Anyone with information about the shoplifting or the identity of the suspect is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-844-71-CRIME.
