Three Toronto men face 85 criminal charges in gun, drug-trafficking probe – CP24

Three Toronto men are facing a total of 85 criminal charges after a months-long investigation into cocaine trafficking in the Greater Toronto Area.

Halton police say the investigation, dubbed “Project Medusa,” was led by its organized crime unit and culminated Oct. 17 and 18 with the arrests of suspects and the execution of four search warrants in the Toronto area.

Following the investigation, the police seized a significant amount of drugs, including seven kilograms of cocaine, half a kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, half a kilogram of fentanyl and 678 oxycodone tablets.

Police also seized nine firearms, $60,000 in currency and a re-bonded Mercedes that was being operated by one of the accused.

Police say the suspects were involved in the “distribution of illicit drugs, primarily cocaine, in the Halton region and the surrounding GTA.”

“Project Medusa exemplifies the Halton Regional Police Service’s unwavering commitment to community safety,” are. Dave Stewart said in a press release. “Through months of meticulous investigation, our officers have successfully taken nine illegal firearms and a large quantity of illicit drugs off our streets. The successful completion of Project Medusa has undoubtedly made the Halton region and the GTA a safer place for all.”

Police say 29-year-old Abdulwahab Shiekh faces 65 charges, while 33-year-old Trevor Beriault faces 19 charges and 31-year-old Michael Estrada Souza , faces a single charge of possession of property obtained by crime.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are “anticipated.”
