Dave McCormick says he’s participating in Senate orientation despite Casey not yielding

(WHTM) – Pennsylvania Sen.-elect Dave McCormick (R) says he will attend Senate orientation this week after initially not receiving an invitation.

“We look forward to joining the Senate Freshman Class of 2025 for orientation this week!” McCormick said. I am honored to represent the people of Pennsylvania and will fight hard to make sure their voices are heard in Washington. Let’s get to work!”

Incumbent Sen. Bob Casey (D) has yet to award the race to McCormick, with thousands of ballots still counted and the race hanging on less than 40,000 votes. On Monday, his campaign again insisted on waiting for all the votes to be counted.

Should the race end within half a point, there will be an automatic recount, however, McCormick’s lead increased over the weekend.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) he did not initially invite McCormick with his office saying they would invite a winner “once the votes are counted”. Requests for comment from Schumer’s office about whether the invitation was extended to McCormick were not returned.
