IndiGo and Air India suspend flights to Bali due to volcanic eruption

IndiGo and Air India canceled flights to Bali on Wednesday, November 13 due to ash clouds from a recent eruption of the Lewotobi Laki Laki volcano in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province.

The volcanic activity has raised safety concerns for airlines operating in the region, prompting the suspension of flights by several carriers.

IndiGo announced the decision on social media, informing passengers of cancellations and possible travel disruptions due to the ash clouds.

The airline operates daily services from Bengaluru to Bali, a popular route for Indian tourists.

Air India has also canceled its daily flight from Delhi to Bali, a route previously operated by Vistara before its merger with Air India. An Air India official confirmed the suspension to PTI, noting that safety considerations are the top priority.

Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki, located on a remote Indonesian island, erupted earlier this month, creating ash clouds that pose potential hazards to aircraft. Given the unpredictable nature of volcanic ash dispersion, flight disruptions may continue until the situation stabilizes.
