A motorcyclist dies after being ejected from a collision in Monroe County with a service truck

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A 53-year-old man riding a motorcycle died after colliding with a service truck on I-75 in Monroe County.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 5:43 am. Troopers from the Monroe Post were dispatched to northbound I-75 near M-26 for the two-vehicle crash.

The crash involved the motorcycle driven by the 53-year-old man from Detroit and the utility van driven by another 53-year-old man from Dundee.

According to the police investigation, the maroon Honda motorcycle was traveling northbound on I-75 when, according to Troopers, it struck the rear of the northbound service van, ejecting him from the bike.

As a result, the motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck were not injured.

The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet and neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor.

The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police.

Michigan State Police were assisted by the South Rockwood Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Berlin Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance.
