The state is warning the public about scams targeting Hawaii real estate investors

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The state is warning the public about a recent real estate scam.

Officials said scammers send letters posing as government entities, targeting individuals and companies with false information to lure them into investing in non-existent properties.

A recent report said that scammers impersonated actor Jason Momoa to attract funds.

“It has come to my attention that scammers are using my name to promote fake real estate opportunities,” Momoa said in a statement. “I want to assure everyone that I am not associated with these schemes and have no partnership with any real estate firm.”

The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs asks the public to report these scams by calling (808) 587-4272.
