Police seize over $20,000 worth of methamphetamine

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol has filed felony drug charges against an Akron man after a traffic stop in Scioto County on Sunday.

During the traffic stop, troopers seized over $20,000 worth of methamphetamine.

Shortly after 12:00 a.m. on November 10, troopers stopped a 2024 Kia ​​Sorento with Kentucky license plates on State Route 823. While interacting with the driver, 33-year-old Antoine Phelps, troopers observed residue of cocaine on the passenger seat.

A search was conducted, which revealed 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine in the suspect’s pocket, valued at approximately $20,200.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Scioto County Jail on charges of possession of drugs – methamphetamine, a first-degree felony, and drug trafficking, a first-degree felony.

If convicted, he faces up to 22 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.
