Houston crash: Man dies, hit twice while running in lane on Southwest Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash Sunday night in the 6000 block of Southwest Freeway Service Road.

At approximately 8:05 p.m., the Houston Police Department (HPD) said a 31-year-old man was struck while running in the exit lane of the freeway by an exiting red Hyundai Elantra.

The impact pushed the man back into the service lanes, where he was struck again by a white vehicle. The make and model are currently unknown. The driver of the white vehicle left the scene without stopping to help.

Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Police say the 70-year-old driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and was interviewed by police. Authorities determined he was not impaired and he was released.
