Suspect arrested in stolen property investigation, facing more charges

Wagoner County Deputies and Rogers County Deputies arrested a man in connection with a stolen property investigation.

On Oct. 5, deputies searched a Rogers County residence and found a truck and trailer in a field.

Serial numbers confirmed both were stolen.

Information obtained at the scene led deputies to another property where they found a zero-trim mower stolen from Broken Arrow.

With new information from the stolen items recovered, deputies obtained suspect information involving a Wagoner County burglary that occurred at Sanders Nursery on October 4th and 5th.

Deputies reviewed photos and video, narrowing in on a residence near Coweta.

Authorities were able to locate one of the vehicles used by the suspect allegedly involved in the burglary.

On Oct. 7, Wagoner County deputies and investigators executed a search warrant in the Coweta area and found two vehicles used in the burglary.

A stolen welder was also recovered.

Investigators identified Nicholas Cotton of Inola as the suspect.

Cotton was taken into custody by the Tulsa Police Department without incident.

He was transported to the David L. Moss Detention Center, according to the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and shoplifting.

He faces additional charges of grand theft, burglary and fuel theft.

WCSO said it suspects additional felony charges will be added for Wagoner County, Coweta and Rogers County.

Waggoner County Sheriff Chris Elliott said, “I am very pleased with how much work and effort the deputies and investigators put into this case. We were able to quickly identify a suspect and recover stolen property from multiple jurisdictions. As Sheriff, my deputies will continue to aggressively pursue the criminals who victimize the Wagoner County community.”

WCSO said investigations are ongoing and other suspects may be involved in the cases.
