Dorothy Ilott of Mashpee was killed after being hit by a car

The police identified the person as a 92-year-old woman killed Friday morning in Mashpee while walking a dog.

Dorothy L. Ilott of Mashpee was killed in the single-car pedestrian accident that happened at 7 a.m. Friday, according to Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline in a statement.

Ilott, who was hit on Job’s fishing trip, was initially taken to Falmouth Hospitalaccording to the police. A dog Ilott was walking died on the spot.

Mashpee Police and Mashpee Fire and Rescue personnel found Ilott lying in the northbound travel lane with what appeared to be “serious injuries.”

The driver of the car remained at hand while police investigated, according to the release. A section of Job’s Fishing Road was closed while police investigated the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department and the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council’s Accident Reconstruction Team.
