Gang unit raids lead to guns, more than 3 kilos of drugs and charges for Brampton couple

Provincial gang unit investigators helped take four handguns, a rifle and more than three kilograms of drugs off the streets, leading to charges for a Brampton man and woman, police said.

The drug bust involved searches at five different locations in Brampton, according to the OPP, which says members of the provincial Gun and Gang Enforcement Team and the Motorcyclist Enforcement Unit took part in the raids.

An investigation into alleged drug trafficking in the Niagara Region led to searches where the raids yielded approximately 1.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 2.7 kilograms of suspected fentanyl, 300 grams of suspected MDMA and 11 grams of methamphetamine , police said.

Officers also recovered four handguns and a rifle, along with more than 845 rounds of ammunition, a prohibited magazine and more than $316,000 in Canadian cash.

Police say a 29-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, both from Brampton, have been arrested and charged with multiple offences. Investigators say the bust goes into a drug trafficking ring that was trafficking drugs in the GTA.

Michael Navarro, 29, of Brampton, has been charged with 27 offences, including multiple trafficking and firearms charges.

Kathy Ann Samuels, 32, of Brampton, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl.

The accused have been released from custody and are due to appear in court in Toronto on December 5.
