BENSALEM TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — The westbound Pennsylvania Turnpike is closed at Interstate 95 South after multiple tractor-trailers were involved in an accident.

It happened on Interstate 276 at Milepost 351.5WB Tuesday morning near Lincoln Highway in Bensalem Township, Bucks County.

Chopper 6 was above the scene on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, where a tractor-trailer appears to have crashed into the back of a box truck.

A semi also crashed into the median.

Another tractor trailer can also be seen jackknifed on the highway, blocking the road.

It appears that no traffic can flow in the westbound lanes.

PA Turnpike WB is closed between I-95 SB (Exit 40) and Bensalem Interchange (Exit 351). The closures will remain in effect until the road is cleared, according to PA Turnpike officials.

Drivers are detoured onto I-95 SB for approximately 3.2 miles to PA 63 West/Woodhaven Rd (Exit 35). From Woodhaven, take US 1 North to Morrisville on Roosevelt Blvd, where drivers can reenter the PA Turnpike at the Bensalem Interchange (Exit 351).

There was no word on injuries or how long the road is expected to be closed.
