Arjun Kapoor on mental health challenges: Not as simple as popping a pill

Actor Arjun Kapoor he made a strong comeback with Singham Again where he played the role of Danger Lanka. However, not many know that the actor was going through a difficult phase while shooting the film. Speaking to India Today Digital, Kapoor opened up about his struggles with mental health and said that healing is a slow process and requires intense and solid work. The actor also said that taking a pill for the same cannot provide long-term benefits or solutions.

Arjun said, “When you’re dealing with mental health issues or going through difficult circumstances, you need to understand the ‘why’. First, I tried to understand why this happens. All of a sudden I started developing tendencies like overthinking and lack of motivation I talked to friends, family members and a therapist. I would like to say that no one should go in alone.

“This wasn’t just about my career; my everyday life was affected. The challenge was to do something about it. I could have continued to feel this way, but I took it upon myself to make a change . I didn’t isolate myself. I took it upon myself to heal, though, because it’s not as simple as feeling better the next day. Wake up one day and say it’s all fixed.” Singham again star added.

Kapoor said the process takes time but is worth every second.

“The process is very slow. You have to rebuild yourself. You have to talk about it, be present in the moment and accept that there are things you’re dealing with. And as a professional actor and a public figure, you have to Put there, even when you’re struggling internally, which can be exhausting. So it wasn’t a single day where I was ‘out of it’ — it’s an ongoing journey,” the actor said.

He further explained, “It’s an ongoing journey that I’m still on. Even now, as I talk to you, I may have some rough days ahead. But I’m better prepared because I’ve faced and accepted that this is a problem that may sound oversimplified, but I’ve come to a place where I’ve found a balance, a way to take care of myself, even on hard days.”

Arjun has a No Entry sequel in the pipeline.
