LCC honors longest serving employee at Veterans Memorial Induction Ceremony

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – On Monday, Lansing Community College held its 12th annual Memorial Veterans Induction Ceremony, inducting Richard Allen, an information technology services employee at LCC.

Mr. Allen, an LCC graduate, is the longest serving employee in the college’s history, having worked at LCC for more than 50 years.

Allen served in the US Army, enlisting in 1967 and deployed to Vietnam in 1968.

He worked in the Army Security Agency, part of the Armed Forces Security Agency, which is now called the National Security Agency. Allen says he likes his job and takes it year by year.

“I loved my job and what I do and the people I work for and the students and employees I serve. And for that reason, I keep doing what I’m doing,” he said.

The LCC Veterans Memorial was created to honor Michigan veterans in the Mid-Michigan area.
