Amera Senior Living is hosting an open house for Siouxland residents to view senior housing options in a newly renovated historic downtown building

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – A newly renovated building in downtown Sioux City will soon open to the public as a senior living facility and allow Siouxlanders to take a free tour and learn more about the city’s senior living options .

Renovations for Amera Senior Living have preserved the historic character of the building, the old Hilton hotel, while adding amenities such as a swimming pool, movie theater, library, physical therapy room, coffee shop and ten floors of living spaces equipped to meet the needs of today’s seniors.

Amera Senior Living invites the public to the “Pathways to Living Well” lunch and learn series at the historic Hilton Hotel, where the Amera Senior Living community is slated to open, offering independent living, assisted living and memory care options. Lunch & Learn Series a series of free educational events that introduce Sioux City residents to senior living options.

Each Lunch & Learn offers information about one of the housing options, a free lunch and a tour of the facility.

Each session is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required due to limited seating.

Below is the event schedule:

  • Tuesday, November 12, 11:30 a.m. – “Memory Care: Tomorrow’s Care”
    • The session will feature Dr. Joshua J. Freitas, an award-winning memory care program developer, researcher and Board Chair for the National Institute for Dementia Education. Dr. Freitas will share information about advances in memory care for those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
  • Wednesday, November 13 at 11:30 a.m. – “Assisted Living: Live Well, Age Gracefully”
    • Learn more about the balance between assistance and independence offered by Assisted Living, where seniors can enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle with the support they need.
  • Tuesday, November 19 at 11:30 – “Independent Living: The Next Chapter”
    • Discover the opportunities and amenities of independent living, ideal for active seniors seeking freedom and convenience.
