McMaster comes to USC Aiken to discuss the Helene recovery initiative

AIKEN, SC (WRDW/WAGT) – South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster will visit the University of South Carolina Aiken Friday afternoon.

He is expected sometime between 2 and 3 pm in the Student Activities Center following the announcement of the Farm and Forest Recovery Resource Days initiative.

The event aims to support South Carolina’s farming and forestry communities affected by Hurricane Helene. It will provide a one-stop resource for individuals to learn about support and services available.

According to the governor’s office, damage assessments completed by the SC Department of Agriculture and the SC Forestry Commission estimate the total financial damage to South Carolina’s agribusiness industry from Hurricane Helene, Tropical Storm Debby and this summer’s flash drought at $621 million.
