Social Media Responds to Michelle Beadle’s ‘Accidental’ N-Word on Air

The most talked about person on NBA Twitter over the weekend wasn’t a player or a team, but a sports broadcaster.

While reading a quote from Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. on Fan Duel TV’s “Run It Back Show,” host Michelle Beadle appeared to accidentally say the N-word instead of the team’s name.

In the clip, she says, “Michael Porter Jr. recently said, ‘Aww, I don’t like this, that if the underachievers . . .'”

Her co-hosts, former NBA player Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams, immediately realized Beadle’s mistake and actually weighed in on the situation.

Williams, who is Black, later said while laughing, “Beadle, you’re going to be in trouble today.”

Beadle tried to come back, saying, “Don’t try to talk me out of it.”

Naturally, the clip went viral and garnered some surprisingly funny responses from former NBA players and fans alike.

Ten-year NBA veteran Evan Turner wrote on X“I’m mad, but I’m not mad at Michelle Beadle.”

Others joked about the incident, sharing memes poking fun at the public slip-up.

Despite the memes, some took Beadle’s “mistake” extremely seriously and were much more critical.

One the person wrote on X“There was no mistake. not nice not funny they wanted attention. get that shit off the screen and don’t let people disrespect an entire culture for clicks and views. Michelle Beadle deserves nothing but rearranging the bridge of her nose to play in people’s faces.”

Another said the person“The way they were laughing up there when Michelle Beadle said ‘n***a’ on TV is embarrassing.”

Someone in other words“Michelle Beadle be at home letting the nigger run her mouth every second without reading ‘nuggets’ and saying nigger.”

Situations like this are not uncommon in the world of sports broadcasting.
In May 2023, during a live pregame broadcast of a matchup between the Oakland A’s and the Kansas City Royals, Athletic play-by-play announcer Glen Kuiper talked about what he and his co-host, Dallas Braden, have been up to in Kansas City.

“Today I had a phenomenal day. Arthur Bryant’s N****r League Museum and Grill,” Kuiper said.

Unlike Beadle and her co-hosts, Kuiper didn’t admit her mistake live and was fired just a few weeks later. We’ll see if Beadle meets a similar fate.
