iOS 18.2 beta 3: 4 Apple Intelligence features you can test now

Complete suite of Apple Intelligence the features aren’t ready for primetime yet, but you can at least test some of them before their proper release.

Apple has released the third beta version for iOS 18.2 this week. If you passed by Apple Intelligence Waitlistthis beta version lets you see the new AI-based features. It should be noted that these features actually went into public beta last week and latest beta version is mostly dedicated to bug fixing.

iOS 18.2 beta: 4 new Apple Intelligence features

Apple Intelligence introduced its highly anticipated image-based AI tools in previous betas, but with iOS 18.2 developer beta 3, you can continue to experiment with the following:

Image Playground

The first is Image Playground, Apple’s standard text-to-image AI tool.

It works as you’d expect: you type some text into a box that describes what you want to see, and eventually an image will appear that should, in theory, describe what you typed.

That being said, it isn’t that basic. The software will make suggestions for things to add to your photos, and you can even use existing photos as inspiration for your creations. You can, of course, share your creations through the Messages app.

Next up is Genmoji, or AI-generated emoji.

You can use text descriptions or existing photos of people to create custom emojis.

Visual intelligence

On the more practical side, though less creative, is visual intelligence.

This feature allows iPhone 16 users (yes, it’s exclusive to the latest iPhones) to open the Camera app, point it at something, and have the AI ​​give you pertinent information about what you’ve focused on.

For example, point your camera at a business and you may receive hours of service or user reviews. Visual intelligence can also do dirty work, such as detecting phone numbers and addresses from images to add to your contact list. Oh, and it can copy and paste text, which will probably be the most useful thing about it.

Siri with ChatGPT

Finally, Siri will come ChatGPT improvements are available through iOS 18.2 beta. The way it works is that if you ask Siri a question and it can’t come up with a satisfactory answer on its own, you’ll be asked to optional check out ChatGPT instead. Siri will present the answer, but ChatGPT is where it comes from.

You can download the third developer beta of iOS 18.2 by going to Settings > General > Software Update. iOS betas can be rough around the edges, so keep that in mind make a backup copy.
