I like to explore America’s natural wondersbut prying my 11-year-old son away from his video games and into the wilderness without Wi-Fi wasn’t always easy.

Over the past few years, we have hiked through 40 national parks together. During that time, I learned a lot about how to make hiking more interesting and engaging for kids – even reluctant ones like mine.

Here are my top tips for getting kids interested in exploring the outdoors.
